Diplomatic/Political Relations 

• Sri Lanka and Chile have established diplomatic relations in 1962.
• Chile has opened a Consulate in Colombo in 1928. The famous Chilean Poet, Pablo Neruda, had served as the Chilean Consul.
• The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia, Brazil is concurrently accredited to Chile while the Embassy of Chile in New Delhi is concurrently accredited to Sri Lanka.

Outward 

• Hon. Tyronne Fernando, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka visited Chile on 2-4 October, 2003.
•  Hon. Maithripala Sirisena, former Minister of Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services of Sri Lanka visited Chile on 9-11 January, 2008
• Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, former Minister of Water Supply and Drainage visited as special Envoy to Chile and met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile on 23 February, 2014
• Ambassador Mr. Raja Edirisuriya attended the inauguration ceremony of President of Chile elect Mrs. Michelle Bachelet on 10 and 11 March 2014 and attended the National Day ceremony on 18 September 2014.

• Hon. Arturo Barrera, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Chile visited Sri Lanka from 7-10 November 2005.
